Don't look now

Some how my office/sewing room has turned into a disaster area. I would show pictures but no one needs to see how messy I can really be. It is really scary.

or two pictures of the disaster area I call my office.

And then there is also this guy. The reason for the piles you see above. Just look at him looking oh so cute. Do you see that somewhat guilty look in his eyes???

Well, it is because he is not (let me repeat that NOT) an oh so cuddly, cute German shepherd. He is an evil German shepherd who seems to think when we are not home and people knock on our front door and/or put stuff in it, that it means that he has to destroy some sewing/quilting related items. Not just bark at them like a good dog.

The first time this happened it  was this:


Not to bad right. This was a few months ago. So I hung it up high along with all the rulers.


But then some aurifil thread; right off of the sewing machine. He also likes to eat batting, out of the drawers that he somehow manages to open. Oh and plastic, like the plastic top to my sewing supply box. I should have got a picture of that one. Now how is it that dog that can take thread off a machine, open doors and take lids off containers. That is just not right. It is evil!

And now this:

NO! NO! NO! I just got that one to replace the old one. It is the big guy the 36 incher.

This is it, the dog has got to...

Nah, I can't. I mean he is currently under my feet saying, "Mama I love you, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to..."


"I  know what to do. I will just pout until you forgive me. I am really sorry. I know I was a bad dog, you don't even have to say it."


So instead it is time to take over the room my hubby is currently using for his office. I just can't do it anymore, I need a door. I need to not have ever thing piled up. I tried. I tried really had to make this work, but it is not working. So dear husband, who does not read my blog... Don't look now, because I am telling the whole world that office will be mine soon... Very very soon.

There is always a first

I tried my first bag pattern. Wow did a pick a difficult one! It is fig tree & co. My Paris Traveler's bag. I had my mom help me with it while she was up for my niece's b-day. I know the mistakes that I made. So if I ever try this again, I will know what not to do.

The bag is quilted first and then put together. There are very large gussets and funky handles. It took a good day and half just to make it with two people working on it.

I used some central park and sugar pop, plus some other funky print on the handles.

Work In Progress Week #6

So it has been my week off. You would think that would mean that I have had a lot of time to work on my projects. HA! Not, so much so. I have done a lot of shopping. I was going to make my sister-in-law travel bags for our cruise in April and work on cleaning up the house. However, finding just the right fabric didn't seemed to cause some difficulties and the bag... oh the bag. The bag is why I am up this late. Anyhow, on to the week in review. Sorry no new pictures, just too late!

I am still working on the Posh Quilt. I have all the A blocks done and 1/2 of the B blocks. I worked on these during the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild sew day. I have new pictures, but they are on my camera and it is about midnight, so you will just have to wait.

My mom gave me a new thimble for these. I also worked on them at the end of last week. I have less than two flowers to go.

Work In Progress Week #5

Completed Projects:
Two Blocks for the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild January Challenge.

This one is more traditional-ish,  And I know it is missing contrast in the pinwheel. My original plan was the green, but I decided against it because I wanted the challenge fabric to stand out. Looking at it now, I am not so happy with that choice. Oh well.

The second one was more improvisation.

Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild Feb Meeting

Yesterday we had the February meeting of the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild. Just a few of us were able to make it this time. No one had recently finish projects to share. For me I had just given away my last two projects (Circle Quilt and Peaceful Green Baby Quilt).

However, all of us did remember to bring our completed blocks for the January Challenge. Each of us were given a fat 1/8th of fabric and asked to create a 10 1/2 X 10 1/2 block using the fabric. Here are the ones that arrived at this meeting. Hopefully some more will come in at next sew day or next months  meeting.

It was great seeing everyone and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our sew day on the 20th.

Circle quilt revealed

So, when I first started blogging in January I said that this would be done later in the month and you all could see. However, I missed the baby shower and had to wait until the mommy to be could see it. So with out any further delay... (insert drum roll)

Here is the circle quilt!

I love the bright blue background. It is Kona cotton lagoon. It is so bright and boy! All those circles are raw edge applique and I made many different sizes.

See this little sun. He is the where all the colors came from in this quilt. That was my jumping off fabric.

I have had it in my stash since I first started quilting over ten years ago. He may be in a little girls quilt too. I just have to track down that picture :)

And here is the back. Aren't those just perfect. It is a Riley Blake print. I really like Riley Blake fabrics :)

Oh yeah and I did machine binding on this one too. I am not too happy with it. I like binding by hand better.

What a nice day

It was actually a really nice day. My day started with a student bring me this.

The students were all well behaved, for the most part. Plus it was sunny. We even went outside and read out on the grass. I read aloud to some and some read to themselves. For the most part everyone was doing what they were supposed to.

What a nice day indeed!
